Hi, my name is Chris and I started this website sometime in May of 2001 (I've forgotten exactly what day) to help others on the net as I've been helped in this great hobby of autograph collecting. It's something I used to do as a kid and in 2001 I was looking for a hobby to have some fun with and I remembered how much fun it was to get autographs of players back in the mail so I decided to start again. Since the net was starting to boom I decided to put my stuff online and have fun with it. Over the years I've learned a lot about autograph collecting and web building as well.

The site originally started out on Geocities in May of 2001. I don't recall exactly how I got the name. I kind of just threw it together thinking I collect sports autographs and I use a SASE so let's call it that. I always intended to change the name to something a little more cool and catchy once the site started to get larger and more popular but the name kind of stuck and the site just became known on the net as SASE so I've stayed with it. I eventually ran out of room on my free Geocities site and decided to get my own domain name in April of 2002. I started up the message board back in early 2004 I believe with a free message board and I eventually switched it over to a vBulletin board in November of 2004. In July of 2005 the Top Prospect Alert.com message board closed down and a lot of their users came over and joined our board. We've been running full steam ahead since then. The site's been featured in Tuff Stuff magazine a few times over the years and we got a mention both in the online and print versions of the June 18th, 2007 edition of ESPN the Magazine which was pretty cool.

I've tried to put together an extensive FAQ to cover the questions I receive most often. If your question isn't listed please feel free to send me an email and I'll get back to you with an answer. I still try to update the site as often as possible though I don't update as often as I have in the past. The amount of time it takes to update the site and send out requests has limited my ability to get as much done as I used to but I don't have any plans to stop any time soon.
